The Plymouth Adult Choir usually sings two anthems in Sunday worship, as well as singing at other special services throughout the year. The approximately two dozen members vary in background from people who don’t read music to people with degrees in music. All enjoy singing a very wide range of styles including standard repertoire from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classic, Nineteenth Century and Twentieth Century periods as well as contemporary music from Broadway, Jazz, and other current popular styles. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7 pm until 8:30, and on Sunday mornings at 9 am prior to the 10 am service. New members are warmly welcomed. The choir will make its first European trip in November of 2024, visiting France and Germany.
The Plymouth Bells perform on a five octave set of Whitechapel Handbells. The members range from new musicians learning to read music to participants with degrees in music. Rehearsals are held Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 6:45. The Plymouth Bells will be going to France and Germany in November 2024 along with the adult choir.
The Plymouth Rocks jazz ensemble typically performs three sets at the monthly Jazz and Justice service held on Monday evenings. Along with Jazz, the ensemble performs songs from Broadway and other popular genres. The regular members include vocalists, piano, trumpet and drums, but other qualified musicians are invited to join in making music. Rehearsals are usually the week before the service and are scheduled at times convenient to those performing.
The Plymouth Organ in the sanctuary was built by the M. P. Möller company in 1930. It has four manuals (keyboards), 45 ranks, and over 3,700 individual pipes ranging from shorter-than-a-Q-tip to over 16 feet long. The console was updated with solid state technology in 2012.
