On Sunday, February 23 Plymouth celebrated Mardi Gras, and sang “Alleluia” for the last time before entering the season of Lent.
Rev. Eric Jackson preached on the Transfiguration of Jesus.
Elisa and Joshua Dekaney and members of Samba Laranja, the Brazilian Ensemble of Syracuse University’s Setnor School of Music, added some Latino exuberance to our celebration.
Samba Laranja led us out of the sanctuary and downstairs…
…for a sumptuous Mardi Gras feast.
And all engaged in LIFT (Living in Faith Together) where we explored the story of the transfiguration by acting it out.
See the cloud come over the Moses, Elijah and Jesus on the mountain!
Then we created masks that revealed rather than hid our true selves.
